Sound Meditation (Sound Bath)
Every third Wednesday of the month 7.30pm-8.30pm
at the Virginia Water Community Centre, Cabrera Avenue/Beechmont Avenue, Virginia Water, Surrey. GU25 4EY
Dates for 2020: 22nd Jan (please note this is the 4th Wednesday not the 3rd due to hall bookings), 19th Feb, 18th March CANCELLED, 15th April, 20th May, 17th June, 15th July All dates postponed due to CV, check back for updates
See our Facebook page (Sound Relaxation Centre) for updates and info.
Cost £5
Alexandra began these events at the Virginia Water Community Centre over five years ago, with the intention of bringing therapeutic Sound to the community for everybody to experience.
Whilst overheads allow, we maintain our original price of £5 per session, in the hope that finances don't have to stand in the way of experiencing the many benefits of Sound, as well as the relaxation, healing and wellbeing that it brings.
As usual, you just turn up, bring a mat and cushion...or both, whatever you need to sit or lie comfortably for an hour and allow the soothing sounds to wash over you, like a form of sonic massage, facilitating rest, relaxation and clarity of mind.
This is a drop in session but please message via Facebook or website or mark yourself as "going" on Facebook to say you are coming so I can have an idea of numbers. We can get very busy and this is a first come first seated event, there is no advanced booking.
Please note there is NO ADMISSION after 7.30pm so as not to disturb others. Doors open at 7.15pm. Parking is adjacent to the community centre on the grasscrete area by the field.
We start with a guided meditation to deepen your state of relaxation and then a Sound Bath using Tibetan Singing Bowls, Chimes, Rain Sticks, Rattles, Native American style flutes, Improvised Voice and Gongs.
You can simply listen to the sounds, drift off, meditate, contemplate life or not...but the aim is to take a peaceful hour out of your routine, enjoy the therapeutic benefits of Sound and put things in perspective, taking a slice of tranquility back with you for the rest of the week.
We will also have our crystal collection there for you to browse afterwards should you wish to.
If you are pregnant, terminally ill, in the final stages of cancer, have severe mental illness or a pacemaker, I need to know in advance. People with ear and balance problems may also be more sensitive to sound variations.
If you are suffering from a fresh cold or a bad cough, please consider others before attending, as this event encourages deep peace and quiet.
Please note that this event is not suitable for people under 16 years of age except by special arrangement.

Voice Meditation and Chant
7.30-8.30pm (please note time change)
at the Virginia Water Community Centre, Surrey. GU25 4EY
This session is not running for the time being. Please register your interest here if you would like to see it return in 2020.
It is widely acknowledged that the key to our healing on so many levels can occur by allowing our voice to sound freely, without fear and judgement. Allowing the breath to deepen encourages relaxation, and connecting the breath to the voice through toning and chant allows a natural state of meditation to occur.
Meditative voice use, such as toning, changes your brain patterns helping you achieve a deep state of relaxation more easily.
In addition it promotes good health and wellbeing by offering all the same benefits of singing (but without the music, notes and getting it 'right').
This session is NOT about singing, making a "nice" sound or performing to others. It is about discovering, allowing and strengthening a part of you that for many people has been suppressed. All vocalising is done as a group.
This session will include:
Guided Breath Meditation
Guided Toning (connecting the breath to single vocal tones)
Improvised Toning Meditation
Chanting
Please arrive from 7.15pm.
No admission once the session has begun.
This is a drop in session but it is always helpful to know who is coming, so ping me a message on 07771 956754
